Over a career spanning 30 years, he was a reporter for ITV and BBC World Service, he presented a range of national BBC television programmes, mainly associated with business and politics, and appeared on TV and radio networks more than 20,000 times.

In his broadcast career he interviewed six serving, or former, Prime Ministers, and every Cabinet and Shadow Cabinet member since the 1970's.

The company he began has a trading history dating from 1985, and has completed hundreds of programmes for broadcast on international as well as UK stations, private networks and the Internet. It employs a network of television and other media professionals across Britain and abroad.

Both the company and Tony Baker individually have won Royal Television Society awards.
