Surgical Procedures

Hair transplants have been around since 1939 when a Japanese dermatologist, Dr Okuda, published this findings following his experiments. Tihs science is fairly straight forward but since Dr Okuda's time, the technology has advanced considerably.

Even for people prone to extensive hair loss it has long been recognised that the hair at the side and back of the head tends to remain. The principle for all transplanting relies on this - if the hair continues to grow elsewhere on the scalp then why not the crown or the top?
Through transplantaion the hair does continue to grow irrespective of what becomes of the hair originally on the top of the head.

With the advancement of technology the methods of collecting and redistributing the hair have become ever more delicate. Usually a small area of skin is removed (under local anaesthetic) from the donor site and this is then cut into small sections which are then placed into the thinning area. This procedure is called mini-grafting. In the front area the sections of hair are cut smaller to give a more natural result. This is called micro-grafting.

In days gone by, the surgery was crude and the results tended to disappoint. This can still be the case even today therefore it is vital that a surgeon is chosen on their merits and not simply because of their convenience.

A face to face consultation, which would be free of charge or obligation, is essential to establish the client's suitability for any form of transplantation. Issues covered include the client's expectations, the possibility / implications of further hair loss as well as the availablity of donor hair. We consider this absolutley vital becuase the results of surgery are life long - any disappointment with transplants could last a lifetime.

Refining previous Surgery

Few clinics actively seek clients from other clinics who have had surgery where the results have failed to live up to expectations. Using a dedicated team of surgeons, however, we are happy to help rectify previous mistakes. If it is not quite possible to have a second chance then we can give a more pleasing result. The scope for such remedial surgery will vary from individual to individual therefore it is vital that a face to face consultation takes place, which of course is free from any charge or obligation.
