Sea blue cloth with black/gilt dec. Large (Imperial) 8vo. 'A new ed.'. Attractive end-papers. Col. frontis. by Clarkson Stanfield of 'The Abandoned', with tissue paper protector. Has a 'slipped in', sheet of critiques inc. one by John Ruskin. There is also a signed, by G.W.Darcy Evans, newspaper cutting of a painting by him, dated 1932. 100 b/w illus. Text divided into 'The Sea in Poetry' 'The Physical Geography of the Sea' 'The Harvest of the Sea' and 'The Sea in History'. Some fading to bottom right-hand edge of front cover and preface pages are partly loose. Numerous b/w engravings throughout. Slight foxing. Previous owner's inscription written on front recto e-p, dated 1933. Hinges shaken, otherwise, Good cond.
