UTASS DROP IN [Updated 21st February'11]


9-11 CHAPEL ROW

The range of services on offer for Young People continues to grow in response to local needs and currently includes:

Girls Sessions:50p
Mondays 6-8pm 8-13 yr olds

Mixed Gender Drop In sessions:50p
Tuesdays 7-10pm 11-19 yr olds
Wednesdays 6-10pm 11-19 yr olds

UTASS Youth Club:50p
Thursdays 6-7.30pm 8-11 yr olds
7.30-10pm 11-19 yr olds
Specific services & facilities provided for Young People include:
WE NOW COLLECT CHILDREN & YOUNG PEOPLE FROM REMOTE UPPER DALES FARMS & HOUSES AND BRING THEM TO UTASS EACH THURSDAY EVENING TO MEET WITH OTHER CHILDREN & YOUNG PEOPLE AND ENJOY THEMSELVES.
THIS SERVICE IS PROVIDED BY A VOLUNTEER DRIVEN & CHAPERONED MINIBUS


•Arcade Machines [Dance Mats & Car Racing]
•Regular offsite visits to places of interest
•Practical support with the completion of job applications and the preparation of CV’s
•Making available relevant information on a range of issue based topics and debating topical matters
•Bringing in appropriate experts to deliver issue based sessions on topics such as drug use, sexual health awareness and racism
•Support with homelessness issues, including assistance with finding a home, furnishings and finances
•Providing access to IT equipment for homework and social (internet cafe) use
•SKY TV, table tennis, table football, pool, darts, air hockey, board games, wii, X Box, Play Station, mixing decks, quizzes
•Food & film nights
•Advocacy work with other support agencies where appropriate
•Organisation and delivery of social & community events in an attempt to reduce levels of isolation – and encourage Young People to raise funds
•General drop in and telephone advice on a range of issues and signposting to other helper organisations & agencies. (This is also available during the daytime)
•C-Card condom distribution scheme and Chlamydia screening [in partnership with the local PCT]
•Various training courses based on locally identified needs including sheep shearing, dry stone walling, tractor driving & driving test theory
